from Chambers Biographical Dictionary
"DALLMEYER , Andrew (January 10th 1945 - May 21st 2017)
Actor, writer and director, born in St Boswells, Roxburghshire.

He studied at Webber Douglas Drama School, and subsequently appeared at the National Theatre, Royal Court and Bristol Old Vic.

Since the 1970s, he has directed almost fifty productions at the Leeds Playhouse, Sheffield Crucible, Liverpool Playhouse and Edinburgh Traverse.

He is the author of over seventy plays, many taking an offbeat look at a real figure, such as Salvador Dali, or Rudolf Hess.

Among his finest works is the political satire, "The Boys In The Backroom" (1982); among his most idiosyncratic, a sharp parody of theatrical pretensions, "A Grand Scam" (1991).

He is considered by many to be the finest and most individual Scottish playwright for many years."
